Hi I am new to this forum and would like to know if anybody has had problems with the air pump on their Tacoma. I am a first time Tacoma owner and not happy to find out that Toyota wants to charge $1900.00 to fix my 2012 Tc with 47 000 miles on the clock. There is a lot of talk about the air pumps on the Tundra but not seen any posts about Tacoma.

the secondary air injection system is part of the motor which is covered under 5 yr 60k miles.... have the dealer fix it.
and if not under the 5 yr 60k power train... you could make a VERY strong case for coverage under the 8 year 80k mi federal emissions warranty as the sole purpose of the secondary air injection is to reduce emissions.
I am having the same issue with my 2012, problem is my taco has 83k on the clock, has anyone posted a diy install on this? I will most likely order a new or used one with warrenty and install it myself.

Check the hoses that come off it to make sure there aren't any air leaks. I'm very familiar with the secondary air system on e46 BMW's but haven't really taken the time to fully inspect how the ones on these trucks work.
Just had this happen to me 50k on my 2012. There's a lot of info on the tundra portion of this same problem, I'm gonna take mine out and try and clean it. Hopefully there is only 1 pump. Ya 2 grand is ridiculous.

I had both codes pop up on my 2012 tacoma 60K on it. Called the Dealership they told me that they only see this on the Tundra's. They quoted me a price of 1900.00 to fix, luckily i got a buddy with shop, after labor and parts it cost me 827.00. Ready to trade in the tacoma now for a F-150, need more room my midgets are getting to big for the tacoma!!
Dealership quoted me at 1090. They cleared codes and said they didn't come back on so they let me go, I pulled out of dealership and they came back on. Found the part online from Boch Toyota South in Massachusetts for 426. Part should be here by Tuesday with the holiday and hopefully I'll be back up and running that night after I clear the codes myself.

Not true, per the EPA the secondary air injection system is an emission control part, those are covered for 2 years or 24k miles. Only major emission control components are covered under the 8yr/80k miles federal warranty (CAT, ECU, OBD)

Did you get it fixed? My truck is throwing both codes as well, and I'm trying to avoid taking it to a dealership. Also, did any of you drive around while having this issue? Im worried about messing something else up or being stuck somewhere.
I drove around for alittle bit but when I was going up hills it would slow me down to about 20mph, put the part in cleared the codes before I started the truck everything went back to normal haven't thrown one yet.

There's the link for the part. I suggest getting the 2 gaskets also. That part number is 17377-31010. Pretty easy if you have tools and have alittle knowledge. Gotta take the air intake tubing out along with the filter housing to access the actual part. circle is where the part is located

I don't have a 2nd gen Tacoma, but I do have a 2nd gen Tundra.
Why are those parts only warranted to 60k? On. The Tundra, they are warranted to 150k or 10 years.

I only want to know for educational reasons, I did the "AIP delete" mod for the Tundra, so I will never have to worry about this issue.

For $15,there is not a better mod you can do for the Toyota trucks.
I had 50k. Toyota doesn't warranty the part. Not sure why that is. I think so many people had the problem with the tundras and sequoia style engines. I think thy are starting to have problems with the tacos.
If you don't have to get an echeck that delete will work fine. I think you just deal with a engine light right?
